Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) plays a strategic role in shaping student’s character to become noble and Islamic-minded individuals. Through a learning process that emphasizes the values of faith, worship, and morality, IRE serves as a medium for moral development and spiritual strengthening amid the rapid currents of globalization and technological advancement. This study aims to examine the role of IRE in shaping students’ character both within and outside the school environment. The method used is a literature review based on various relevant sources. The findings show that IRE significantly contributes to fostering values of responsibility, discipline, honesty, and tolerance. Furthermore, the role of IRE teachers as role models is an essential factor in the success of character formation. Therefore, the strengthening of character education through IRE should continue to be developed in an integrated and contextual manner according to the needs of today’s learners.
