EPISTEMOLOGI ISLAM RASIONAL HARUN NASUTION SEBAGAI PINTU AWAL MASUKNYA FILSAFAT ISLAM DI INDONESIA

This study analyzes Harun Nasution's rational Islamic epistemology as the gateway to Islamic philosophy in Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach based on literature review, this study describes how Harun Nasution dialogues reason and revelation in understanding Islamic teachings. The results show that Harun Nasution views reason and revelation as two complementary entities, with revelation guiding reason in understanding reality. His ideas, which adapt Mu'tazilah rationalism, open up intellectual discussion in the context of Indonesian Islam, while encouraging the integration of philosophy into Islamic studies in higher education. Despite facing resistance from conservative groups, Harun's thinking has made a significant contribution to introducing a rational paradigm in Islamic studies, bridging tradition and modernity. These findings emphasize the importance of philosophy as a tool for enriching religious understanding that is inclusive and relevant to the challenges of the times.
