Archiving Policy

Archiving Policy

Querencia: Community Service Journal

1. Purpose of Archiving
Querencia: Community Service Journal is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published content. This archiving policy ensures that all articles remain available, readable, and citable for future research, education, and community development purposes.

2. Digital Archiving System
To guarantee the safety and sustainability of its publications, the journal implements the following archiving strategies:

PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN): The journal utilizes the Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network to preserve its content in a decentralized archival system.

LOCKSS and CLOCKSS: The journal supports the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) initiative to preserve multiple copies of published content across partnering libraries and repositories.

Institutional Repositories: Authors and readers are allowed to store published articles in institutional or personal repositories, databases, or websites, provided proper citation of the original publication.

3. Self-Archiving Rights (Green Open Access)
Querencia allows authors to archive the following versions of their articles without requiring permission:

Submitted (preprint) version

Accepted (postprint) version

Published (publisher’s PDF) version
Authors may deposit these versions in institutional repositories, personal websites, or academic networking platforms such as ResearchGate or Academia.edu.

4. Backup and Data Security

All digital files published by the journal are regularly backed up on secure local servers and cloud storage.

Access to backup systems is limited to authorized editorial staff to maintain data integrity and security.

5. Metadata Preservation
The journal ensures that metadata for all published articles (titles, authors, abstracts, keywords, DOI, etc.) is preserved and distributed to indexing databases, library catalogs, and global repositories to enhance visibility and traceability.

6. Persistent Identifiers
Each published article is assigned a permanent Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to ensure it remains accessible and citable even if the website structure changes.

7. Policy Review
This archiving policy is reviewed periodically to ensure alignment with technological developments, best practices in scholarly publishing, and digital preservation standards.
